INDIA HIGH COMMISSIONER’s REQUEST FOR CONSULAR ACCESS TO JADHAV WAS REJECTED BY PAKISTAN :

Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Gautam Bambawale today met Pakistan Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua to seek consular access to Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav, who has been given death sentence by an army court there.  During the meet, Bambawale sought copies of chargesheet and judgment by Pakistani military court against Jadhav, ministry of external affairs said.  The MEA said India has conveyed to Pakistan that it will appeal the order and are studying Pakistani Army Act.  However, the defiant Pakistan FS said that since this is case of espionage, the consular access can’t be granted. To this the Indian envoy said that under international law it must be granted.  Sartaj Aziz, Pakistan Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs said that all parties are unanimous that Jadhav should be given death sentence after he went through legal process.  Aziz also said that Jadhav is involved in anti-Pakistan activities and he has accepted to all the charges.  Aziz further said that Jadhav has been convicted according to Pakistani law.   The Rediff.com : 14th.
