ACTRESS PALLAVI SHARDA IS HAPPY AS HER PERFORMANCE IN BEGUM JAAN IS APPRECIATED BY AUDIENCE AND CRITICS :

Pallavi Sharda is happy that her performance in Srijit Mukherji‘s just released ‘Begum Jaan’ is being appreciated by the audience as well as critics. For the Australia-born actress, it has been a long road to acceptance in Bollywood. She says, “I would like to thank Srijit and Vidya (Balan). ‘Begum Jaan’ is a very special film for me, as it resonates with a lot of my beliefs, particularly women’s rights to own their bodies and the freedom to make their choices with conviction. I play a tormented character, who despite being emotionally vulnerable, projects a strong exterior. I surrendered myself completely to the role.”  Pallavi plays Gulabo, one of the girls in Begum Jaan‘s (Vidya) brothel, through which runs the Radcliffe Line that divides India and Pakistan. Viewers got a whiff of the intensity of her role for the first time in the film’s trailer. But it was during the scenes of emotional conflict in the second half, in which she shares screen space with Vidya, that Pallavi proved her ability to hold her own.  The Times of  India : 15th.
