AMERICAN MODEL-ACTRESS NARGIS FAKHRI RETURNS TO INDIA AS A SINGER :

American model-actress Nargis Fakhri who crossed over to Bollywood in 2011 with Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Rockstar’ has been living it up in Los Angeles for the last eight months.   Even though the 37-year-old actress had three releases in 2016 -‘Dishoom’, ‘Housefull 3’ and ‘Banjo’ -she wasn’t in the city to promote the films. But now, she’s making a comeback to the Maximum City to club-hop with her singing debut, an Indo-Canadian single, ‘Habitaan Vigaad Di’. Written by Kumaar, the song also features singer-composer Parichay, best known for his racy track ‘Aaj Phir Peene Ki Tamannah Hai’ from ‘Loveshhuda’, and reggae artiste and musician Kardinal Offishall, who frequently collaborates with Akon.   Nargis features as a ‘fantasy chick’ in the music video and has crooned the Punjabi chorus. Nargis picked the track, which has sexual undertones, out of two that Parichay had composed and sent to her in LA. In the first week of June, the duo subsequently filmed the video in Toronto, showcasing the city’s popular 1800-feet high communication’s tower and other amazing views of the city.  Nargis, who doesn’t speak Hindi or Punjabi, insisted that she didn’t want her accent to sound disrespectful, so she rehearsed extensively. “For the main chorus line, she gave 100 takes because she couldn’t get the Punjabi lyrics right. She made sure to learn the correct pronounciation of every word from Parichay. Her commitment to her singing debut was unparalleled,” adds the source.   Next, Parichay and Nargis are teaming up for another track, in which the actress will have a lot more vocals. This week, as a run-up to the release of the track, Nargis and Parichay will show up at clubs in the city and surprise revellers with a live musical performance of their track.   The Times  of  India : 19th.
