ARTISTS ACROSS INDIA SAID ‘NOT IN MY NAME’ IN PROTEST AGAINST LYNCHING :

A group of     people who think they can get away with lynching because there is no punishment… I’m sorry, this is not our India. We need to stop mob lynching. Enough is enough,” said Shabana Azmiwhile holding a placard proclaiming “#NotInMyName”, standing with hundreds of Mumbaikars in the rain. She, along with many actors, filmmakers, musicians, authors, joined the nation-wide protest against lynching on Wednesday. The campaign was started by Gurgaon-based filmmaker Saba Dewan.  Ranvir Shorey and Kalki Koechlin at the protest in Mumbai (BCCL)  The protest also brought together hundreds of Delhiites at Jantar Mantar, where music and poetry was used to send the message across. While Rabbi Shergillsang, poet Gauhar Raza recited couplets. Also present there were actor Adil Hussain and fashion designer Nida Mahmood. In Bengaluru, actor-filmmaker Girish Karnad, with a nasal cannula, came to support the protest, and for author Ramchandra Guha, being a part of the protest was an “affirmation of his citizenship.”  The Times  of  India : 30th.
