‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’, one of the most controversial films of 2017, which is all set to hit the screens on July 21, has already grabbed limelight and criticism for its explicit and bold content. As a part of promotions for the upcoming film, the film’s distributor Ekta Kapoor kick-started the lipstick rebellion movement. Many Bollywoodand television actors followed the movement to support the film. At an event held recently in Delhi, the director Alankrita Shrivastava said, “Young India is open to content on digital platform. India doesn’t need the moral policing”  When Ratna Pathak Shah was quizzed about her role in the film, she said, “It wasn’t such a challenge to play this role. The challenges were regarding certain scenes. There are many things we don’t talk about like homosexuality, depression etc. This is leading to uneven development” She also added, “Patriarchy is hard on men as well as women”  The Times  of  India : 11th.
